The skin is a mirror to our health. In fact it is our largest detoxification organ. There are areas of the skin that correspond to various organs. When these organs eliminate toxins through the skin, the skin area corresponding to the organ is affected. Conversely, what we put on the skin also affects the underling organs for better or for worse. If we use natural products on our skin they will support the organ nutritionally. Many cosmetics and cleaning products contain substances that are carcinogenic or toxic to our bodies. Using these products on the skin directly impacts underlying organs. Our kidneys and liver are constantly working to process and detoxify the blood. Toxins from the liver and kidneys are partially eliminated through the skin. Many skin problems and skin diseases are seen over those areas associated with liver and kidneys. When the organs can no longer process toxins efficiently, the skin is called upon to assist.
When the skin is covered with paraffin from body lotions, sunscreen and other cosmetic products, it is like wrapping the skin in plastic. This prevents the skin from helping the organs to eliminate toxins. As a result toxins are reabsorbed into the body where they are stored in the fatty and connective tissue. Some sunscreens contain paraffin and heavy metals that seal off the skin, preventing it from breathing, perspiring, and releasing toxins. The trapped toxins "cook" under the heat of the sun, causing cellular damage that can lead to skin cancer.
